Support Sherwood Care

A Letter from Kathy Fortunate, CEO, Sherwood Care:

Who we are
Sherwood Care is a compassionate care home, rooted in the values and traditions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. For over 55 years, we have provided faith-based senior care in Alberta. I have had the privilege of serving here for 27 years and have seen first-hand the profound impact this ministry has on residents, families, staff, and volunteers.

What’s happening
We are embarking on a transformative capital campaign to build a new six-storey facility that will more than double our capacity to serve Alberta’s seniors with dignity, compassion, and faith-based care. The Government of Alberta has already committed $87.9 million to this project, and we are seeking to raise an additional $6 million through community support.

Our ask
We are inviting our Church family to walk with us in this ministry. The church campaign was kicked off at Camp Meeting this summer, with a significant donation from the Alberta Conference and the Allen Fowler Family in his memory totalling $300,000. Your donations will be matched up to the $300,000, providing triple the impact of your gift.

Below you’ll find a short 5-minute video introducing the project and sharing how your congregation can be part of the vision. We ask that you:

  • Share this video with your church members.
  • Encourage your members to prayerfully consider supporting Sherwood Care through prayer, awareness, and financial gifts.

How to give

Giving has been made simple:

  • Adventist Giving Online: “Sherwood Care Development” is now listed in the offering options.
  • Paper tithe envelopes (marked “Sherwood Care Development”).
  • E-transfer: also available, noting “Sherwood Care Development.”

While our $6 million goal is significant, it is not one church’s burden to carry. This is a shared effort uniting individuals, families, businesses, and organizations across Strathcona County and Alberta.

How we can support you
My leadership team, our board, and I would be honoured to speak in your churches to share more about this ministry if you wish.

Thank you for your leadership, your prayers, and your commitment to serving others. Together, we can ensure that faith-based senior care continues to thrive in our province.

In appreciation,

Kathy Fortunate
